It installs from the browser itself, with no app store. It is small, and whatever you have opened stays available without coverage.

Backpack weight

The rule is old and has not changed: no more than ten per cent of your own body weight. It is the difference between reaching Santiago and quitting in Burgos with tendinitis.

Pack your backpack

Tick what you are taking and see whether it fits your limit. What you wear does not count: only what goes inside weighs.

Add something of mine

A litre of water weighs a kilo. On a stretch with no fountains you carry two out of the village, and that is two kilos nobody counted.

This is what each thing weighs. With JavaScript you can tick yours and add it up.

    • Weigh it full, with the water in it. A six-kilo pack with two litres of water weighs eight.
    • Heaviest and least used: the spare change of clothes you added last, the hairdryer, the big padlock, the paper guidebook, the full toiletry bag. Any Correos office will post it home.
    • Three of each: one on, one washed, one drying. Nothing more.
    • A summer sleeping bag weighs half what a winter one does. From June to September, in hostels, a sleeping-bag liner is nearly always enough.
    • If you are over the limit, have the pack carried for a day. It costs five to eight euros a stage and saves a tendon.
